We're Building Education
For Families Who Refuse to Settle

Cocoa Classroom started in a basement with one father's refusal to accept "good enough" for his daughter. Now we're building a platform that serves thousands of families who feel the same way. If you believe education should be personal, culturally grounded, and unapologetically excellent—we want you on this team.

Why Cocoa Classroom Exists

This company wasn't built to scale fast or chase venture capital. It was built because a Black father in Utah looked at the school system and realized his daughter would face the same isolation he did as a child. The same feeling of being "the only one." The same fight to be seen.

So he did what any engineer—and any father who refuses to accept less—would do. He built an alternative. Late nights. After a layoff. While homeschooling. What started as one family's solution became a platform for many.

We're not just another EdTech company. We're a mission.

If that resonates with you—if you believe education should center the child, empower the parent, and never make anyone feel invisible—keep reading.

What We Stand For

These aren't platitudes on a wall. They're the principles we code by, ship by, and live by.

🎯

Built for Real Life

No corporate speak. No feature bloat. We build what homeschool families actually need—because we are homeschool families. Every feature is battle-tested in real kitchens and living rooms.

💪🏾

Representation Matters

We center identity, culture, and lived experience in everything we build. Education that sees your child isn't a nice-to-have—it's the baseline. If you're committed to building tools that reflect the diversity of families we serve, you'll fit right in.

🚀

Move Fast, Build Right

Speed matters, but not at the expense of quality. We iterate quickly, ship often, and fix mistakes fast. But we never ship broken trust. Parents depend on us—we take that seriously.

🧠

Learn Out Loud

We're building in public. We share wins, losses, and lessons learned. If you're the kind of person who documents your process, shares knowledge generously, and isn't afraid to say "I don't know yet"—you belong here.

🤝

Parents Are Partners

We don't build for parents—we build with them. Feature requests come from real families. User feedback shapes our roadmap. If you believe the people using your product should help design it, we're aligned.

🌱

Sustainable Growth

We're not chasing unicorn status. We're building a company that lasts—one that treats employees, customers, and the mission with equal respect. Slow and steady beats burnout culture every time.

🏠 Fully Remote

Work from anywhere. Async-first culture. We use Slack, Notion, and regular video standups. Overlap a few hours with US time zones.

⚖️ Work-Life Balance

No crunch culture. No "hustle harder" BS. Founder is a homeschool parent—we respect your time and family commitments because we live them too.

We're building tools for diverse families—our team should reflect that. If you've been underrepresented in tech or education, we especially want to hear from you.

Ready to Build Something That Matters?

Cocoa Classroom isn't a stepping stone to your next big exit. It's the work. It's families taking control of their children's education. It's representation mattering. It's a Black father refusing to let the system fail another generation.

If that's the kind of mission you want to wake up for every day—even if we're not hiring right now—let's start a conversation. We'll remember you when the time comes.
